Breva – Permanently Closed

THE GET DOWN

If you are looking for a bite before heading to an event at Staples, then Breva is your spot. Located in the newly renovated Hotel Figueroa, Breva is an upscale brasserie that puts a twist on American classics with the use of Mediterranean influences and flavors.

The menu is supposedly inspired by the Basque region, however, knowing what this actually means is another story. In fact, just order the burger. The caramelized onion combined with Mahon cheese makes it a memorable one. This alone will have you coming back anytime you are in the hood. Breva is a well-designed space. Its beautiful interior is layered with fine finishing’s and makes for a very special occasion or date night spot.

Hotel Figuroa (where Breva is located), is worth the trip alone. Peruse through the Moraccan style architecture and design, check out the pool area, sit back in the hotels main bar, and enjoy the most fantastical people watching scene. From tourists, to locals… you never know who you might have a run in with at Breva.

Dining with toddlers isn’t the most ideal at Breva. But if you must, immediately clear the fragile wine glasses from the table and definitely ask to be seated in a booth. A respectful noise level is appreciated at Breva, so if your runner or screamer is joining you, then bring a dining partner. Worst case, one can eat, while the other runs circles around the lobby.

Did I mention that Breva has a Gintonico menu that will have you thirsting for more? I’m not sure why the language here at Breva borders some blurred lines, but once you have a cocktail and ask a lot of questions, it will all start to make sense.

Rating System:

It’s our goal to make exploring LA either with the kids or with grown ups as easy as possible. Click through the tabs above to check out our rating system.

For those with little
runners & screamers:

Easily forgiven:

Here, you can forget the fact that it’s your rambunctious child that’s screaming and STILL enjoy most of your meal.

Not promoted, but you should take the chance:

If your toddler is at the stage when an iPad or some other colorful distraction can be used for an un-interrupted 20 minutes, then go for it.

Uh-uh, NO WAY, don’t even think about it!:

I don’t care how cute your toddler is. Pop your head in… turn around… walk away. PERIOD.

No contained area:

A place you cannot leave your toddler alone, not even for a second.

Enclosed, but space is tight:

If YOU can’t fit between the tables then you know you couldn’t catch your toddler if they tried – this isn’t Norm’s.
