Oriel

Porsche Davis DTLA | Lincoln Heights, Eat, French

THE GET DOWN

Downtown is poppin with all kinds of diverse vibes and Oriel is no exception! Located under a bridge on the outskirts of Chinatown, Oriel is certainly a little sneak where the cool cats flock.

And what can be better than a wine bar/restaurant with some French nibbles? You can never go wrong with a Charcuterie plate! Am I right or am I right? But if you are looking for something a little more hardy, the steak tartare or the fresh fish of the day with some haricots verts would be right up your alley.

Oriel is a perfect place to meet friends for a drink, a quick catchup or any time of night. If you are dining with a tot with a fussy palette, then check the menu before you go and/or stash a sandy in your bag. If you forget, you can always order bread (request it not toasted).

I can’t report that Oriel is the best place for a runner. Draaag. The tables are quite close and the place is very small. If you have a screamer on hand, it’s loud enough where the only ones that would notice are the people sitting next to you. I also suggest that if you are dining with a tot, arrive promptly at 5 and order yourself a glass. You never know where the evening will take you…

Rating System:

It’s our goal to make exploring LA either with the kids or with grown ups as easy as possible. Click through the tabs above to check out our rating system.

For those with little
runners & screamers:

Easily forgiven:

Here, you can forget the fact that it’s your rambunctious child that’s screaming and STILL enjoy most of your meal.

Not promoted, but you should take the chance:

If your toddler is at the stage when an iPad or some other colorful distraction can be used for an un-interrupted 20 minutes, then go for it.

Uh-uh, NO WAY, don’t even think about it!:

I don’t care how cute your toddler is. Pop your head in… turn around… walk away. PERIOD.

No contained area:

A place you cannot leave your toddler alone, not even for a second.

Enclosed, but space is tight:

If YOU can’t fit between the tables then you know you couldn’t catch your toddler if they tried – this isn’t Norm’s.
