THE GET DOWN

It’s hard to put my finger on it, but I would describe Kismet’s cuisine as Mediterranean with a mix of Middle-eastern spice and a laid back west-coast flare, or fare I should say.

The space is minimalistically done which makes the menu stand out in a bolder way. And the gracious staff just adds another layer to Kismet’s charm.

Kismet has a special chicken, rice and carrot dish for tots if their palette is not quite aligned with Middle Eastern spices. I really enjoyed that dish too. In fact, I brought the leftovers home and enjoyed it just as well the next day. I’m convinced they just put magic in that simple dish.

The rest of the menu at Kismet can have you a bit baffled. Especially if you just want a simple piece of grilled fish or a plain ‘ol crunchy Greek salad. And the prices can get up there as well.
Kismet isn’t for everybody, but it IS especially pleasing to the foodies who are looking for a different type of culinary adventure.

If you have a runner or screamer then I suggest you go during off beat hours since Kismet stays open from 10am-11pm. The space is narrow and pre-tty tight.

The jeweled crispy rice and the spiced carrots at kismet will forever be in my rotation. Thanks Kismet, we really enjoy our experience here.

Rating System:

It’s our goal to make exploring LA either with the kids or with grown ups as easy as possible. Click through the tabs above to check out our rating system.

For those with little
runners & screamers:

Easily forgiven:

Here, you can forget the fact that it’s your rambunctious child that’s screaming and STILL enjoy most of your meal.

Not promoted, but you should take the chance:

If your toddler is at the stage when an iPad or some other colorful distraction can be used for an un-interrupted 20 minutes, then go for it.

Uh-uh, NO WAY, don’t even think about it!:

I don’t care how cute your toddler is. Pop your head in… turn around… walk away. PERIOD.

No contained area:

A place you cannot leave your toddler alone, not even for a second.

Enclosed, but space is tight:

If YOU can’t fit between the tables then you know you couldn’t catch your toddler if they tried – this isn’t Norm’s.
